Detail Level
The geographic granularity of data significantly impacts pricing:
- National/state data represents our most affordable tier
- County/city data falls within the mid-range pricing tier
- Zip code data commands a premium over broader geographies
- Neighborhood/block group data (our most granular level) represents our premium tier
Organizations requiring multiple levels of granularity may benefit from package pricing that offers a discount compared to licensing each level individually.
Citation Requirements
We offer flexible options for crediting CrimeGrade.org as your data source:
- Full citation – Organizations that prominently cite CrimeGrade.org as their data source receive our most favorable pricing
- Minimal citation – Discreet attribution in documentation or terms of service comes at a moderate premium
- White-label – Complete absence of CrimeGrade.org citation typically doubles the base licensing cost
Many clients prefer to cite CrimeGrade.org, as this provides credibility and transparency while reducing their responsibility for explaining the data methodology.
Crime Types
Each crime category is priced separately, with options for package deals:
- Summary categories (overall crime, violent crime, property crime) are priced as individual products
- Specific crimes (murder, rape, robbery, assault, arson, theft, vehicle theft, kidnapping, drug crimes, vandalism, identity theft, animal cruelty) can be licensed individually
- Crime packages offering combinations of related crimes are available at discounted rates
- Complete crime dataset includes all categories at a significant discount to individual licensing
Organizations can license only those crime types relevant to their specific needs, optimizing both relevance and cost.
Access Method and Volume
API access pricing varies based on call volume and complexity:
- Low volume (under 250,000 calls/month): $0.10-$0.18 per call
- Medium volume (250,000 – 2.5M calls/month): $0.03-$0.12 per call
- High volume (2.5M + calls/month): $0.01-$0.05 per call
- Custom fields and calculations may carry additional costs
- Geo-coding services are available at additional cost
CSV and data file delivery typically involves a flat subscription fee based on update frequency, geographic coverage, and crime types included.
Contract Duration
Longer commitments receive preferential pricing:
- Monthly subscriptions offer maximum flexibility at premium rates
- Annual contracts provide standard pricing with predictable costs
- Multi-year agreements include discounted rates for long-term partnerships
Full CSVs, geoJSON files, and comparable comprehensive data packages require a minimum contract term of 1 year, with validation data provided for a limited area as a trial.
